Freezing conditions are known to be unkind to elastomeric sealing components. As the temperature drops below the compounds' capabilities, their physical properties may be compromised. Elastomers can become more plastic-like, resulting in: |
V717 & V9M2 To provide our customers with low temperature FKM sealing solutions, we have formulated two specialty compounds, V717 and V9M2, using Viton™ GLT polymer. These compounds allow our customers to benefit from a low-temperature FKM while maintaining high-temperature capabilities. They offer broad chemical resistance, including against hot water and steam, and deliver excellent fluid resistance. Both compounds have a long history of successfully performing in some of the most challenging downhole applications. Our V717 compound is a general-use low-temperature FKM material that has undergone third-party testing for low-temperature valve sealing performance. It achieved an outstanding result at a temperature of -60°C per MESC SPE 77/312 standards for Fugitive Emission Production Testing. Similarly, our V9M2 compound has also achieved remarkable results, meeting the same MESC SPE 77/312 standards for Fugitive Emission Production at -40°C. Our V9M2 was formulated for environments where rapid gas decompression (RGD) may be a concern. It also has undergone third-party testing set by some of the industry's most respected regulating bodies, including:
