T-Seals are composed of a T-shaped elastomer supported by hard plastic back-up rings to prevent the seal from deforming or extruding into the clearance gap under high-pressure conditions that standard O-rings cannot withstand. The design is also considered to be more stable than an O-ring, as the T-seal shape helps to eliminate rolling or spiraling issues.
Our T-Seals fit standard O-ring grooves, allowing a direct replacement with no hardware modification required. They are double acting and are suited for both reciprocating and rotary motion equipment, with piston and rod profiles available.
Our standard T-seals are non-locking designs composed of a nitrile 70A sealing element and two integrated split nylon/polyamide back-up rings. Viton™ FKM sealing element and PTFE back-up rings are recommended for improved chemical resistance.
Hi-Tech Seals recommends increasing the sealing element hardness to 90A and/or upgrading to KasPex™ PEEK back-up rings for higher pressure (>5000 PSI) handling ability.
With proper seal design, material selection, and gland tolerances, our T-Seals are proven to handle well over 10,000 PSI. Please refer to the following T-seal Case Study.
